Designing a Premium “Shop While You Bank” Digital Experience

The Challenge

Bancolombia developed a premium branch concept designed to transform traditional banking into a lifestyle experience. These flagship locations included coffee bars, coworking spaces, lounge-style teller service, and hospitality-driven environments.

As part of this elevated concept, Bancolombia formed strategic alliances with premium brands to enhance customer engagement inside the branch.

Carulla, one of Colombia’s most recognized premium supermarket brands, became one of these partners.

The challenge was to design a seamless, co-branded digital experience that would:

  • Integrate naturally within the premium branch environment
  • Encourage customer interaction without disrupting banking services
  • Drive measurable engagement
  • Reinforce both brands’ positioning

This wasn’t about advertising.
It was about creating value inside a physical financial space.

The Strategy

Conceptus developed a co-branded interactive retail experience that allowed customers to browse exclusive Carulla offers while visiting Bancolombia branches.

The strategy focused on:

  • Designing large-format touchscreen interfaces aligned with both brand identities
  • Creating an intuitive “Shop While You Bank” user journey
  • Integrating exclusive pricing and free delivery incentives
  • Embedding QR code tracking to measure engagement and usage
  • Maintaining a premium aesthetic consistent with Bancolombia’s elevated branch concept

The objective was to blend retail convenience with financial experience — without friction.

The Execution

Over a five-month development timeline, Conceptus led the design and implementation of the interactive digital installations.

We created two large-format touchscreen experiences that allowed users to explore curated grocery selections, access special promotional pricing, and schedule home delivery directly from within the bank environment.

The interface design carefully balanced both brand identities, ensuring that neither Bancolombia nor Carulla overshadowed the other. Navigation was simplified to accommodate quick interactions while customers waited or relaxed within the branch.

To ensure performance accountability, QR codes were integrated into the system to track usage and measure customer engagement. This allowed both brands to monitor interaction rates and validate the impact of the activation.

The final installation enhanced the premium in-branch atmosphere while introducing a new layer of lifestyle convenience.
